Essentials | Windy Weather Part 1

I thought I'd like to address the fact that autumn has decided not to exist this year in Melbourne. Yes. It is currently extremely windy this March and therefore uncomfortably cold. BUT then you have your little moments of summer ranging from 5 minutes to 2 hours. Nevertheless it is no easy task to dress appropriately for this weather so I have come up with a list of items I regard as necessities to fend off the wind. Here is the first instalment!

1. SCARF
While this seems a no brainer, I forget this almost always. For the people going out in the morning when it's still very cold: Trust me you'd rather forget a jacket than a scarf. It keeps your neck warm obviously, but if you have a wider scarf you can wrap it around yourself and voila, you have a somewhat jacket!

2. FLANNEL
Or just any buttoned shirt (or even cardigan). I am not a fan of carrying things, so even though my thick jacket will be perfect for a chilly morning it'll just end up being a hassle for the rest of the day. Flannels or cardigans aren't bulky but will still shield you from the wind. Also, if it gets warm you can easily tie it around your waist. I don't think tying a bulky jacket around your waist would be particularly flattering

And for one non-fashion related essential...
3. HAND LOTION
As someone who doesn't particularly enjoy wearing gloves, this would be something I can't leave the house without on a cold day. Even on a day where it's not cold enough for gloves, the wind can still dry out your hands a lot so bringing a small tube of moisturiser will keep your hands hydrated and soft. The one I've been using lately is the L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream.

Have fun!
