As we all know, rings are for fingers but a while ago I read an
interesting post by a fashion blogger I admire, Chriselle Lim. In the post she
used rings to embellish her scarves by looping the scarves through the rings. In the same way, I decided
to experiment with this, using different scarves and trying out different ways
of looping the scarves through rings.
Using this thin blue spotted scarf I took both ends together and
looped it through a statement ring, creating a polished and symmetrical look
With my hounds tooth printed scarf, I found the material thicker, so
instead of looping both ends through one ring, I put each end on separate rings,
simply to change up the basic method of wrapping the scarf around your neck.
Extending on the idea of using rings for more than just your
fingers, I discovered that they are very handy to use on tops! Particularly
long tops. In my outfit I paired my high waisted pants with a "false crop" tee. This tee actually runs quite long and would generally be paired
with something like leggings.
I could just tuck in the shirt right? But personally I don’t like
tucking in shirts into pants (especially high waisted) because they can be
uncomfortable, and sometimes end up looking bulky under the material of the pants,
which leaves an unflattering shape. Here I took the ring and looped the part of
the shirt I would tuck in and pulled it through a thin ring, then folding it
upwards into the shirt and flattening it so that the excess material doesn’t
bulge.
These tips have become very useful to me and I especially use rings
on my shirts quite a lot, paired not only with pants, but also high waisted skirts,
and layering them on top of plain dresses. I hope these hacks will be helpful
for you too!
Have fun,
Nyssa
