Style Journal | C is for Cookie

Hey guys, here’s a very casual look of the day! Sometimes when I really have no clue what to wear, my first instinct is to reach for printed T-shirts, because they’re simple yet more interesting than a plain solid colour. So here, I have my super comfortable, maroon high wasted pants paired with this Cookie Monster tee I purchased a long time ago, and I actually cut the bottom because it was quite long for me (I’m short). For outerwear I have my hooded denim jacket and of course, so I’m not walking around barefoot in public I wore my beloved white converses!

Essentials | Windy Weather Part 2

Last week I revealed 3 of my necessities to fend off windy weather. Today I give you 3 tips to stay warm on those extra chilly mornings…

1. Layering is your friend
So the mission is to dress warm enough not to freeze in the morning, but not so bundled up that you sweat by afternoon. The solution? Layering. Instead of throwing on a massive coat, go for something like a utility jacket layered on a thin cardigan and a T-shirt. When layering it’s important to select lightweight materials. Not just to avoid looking frumpy, more so that you don’t have heavy things to carry when you remove layers.

2. Stay warm from the feet up
My mum always told me that keeping your feet warm would automatically make the rest of your body warm. I usually like to wear low cut socks but on colder mornings I opt for socks that cover my ankles for extra warmth. Also wearing shoes that cover your ankles like boots or high top sneakers can make all the difference!

3. Never leave home with a naked wrist
Especially for long hair, wind makes your hair go all over your face and it gets all tangled. It’s just not very pleasant. I personally prefer leaving my hair out on a daily basis but I almost always have hair ties on my wrist so I am prepared for the very reason of strong winds. Additionally if the weather happens to skyrocket from 15 to 30 degrees (yes that has happened), by the afternoon you can tie your hair up again to keep cool.

I’ve been loving telephone cord hair ties. I bought a few when I was in Thailand, and they can be found everywhere online, like Etsy!

Stay warm and have fun!
